Preserve the evidential original
Redaction should be performed on a working copy. Preserve the original file, metadata and access history according to the organisation’s evidence policy.
Name the redacted derivative clearly and document why it was produced, who reviewed it and which sections were altered.

Protect unrelated people consistently
Dashcam, property and mobile footage may include neighbours, passengers, staff or passers-by who are not relevant to the claim. Automatic tracking helps keep protection attached while the camera or subject moves.
- Check people entering at frame edges.
- Inspect mirrors and vehicle windows.
- Review cuts, speed changes and low light.
- Confirm audio does not reveal unnecessary identity.

Use review reports as operational evidence
A review report can show where face tracks were found and which moments need attention. It supports quality control but does not certify legal compliance or replace an evidence-handling procedure.
The approved redacted export should be reviewed in the player used by the recipient wherever practical.
