4K changes both compute and scrutiny

Higher resolution provides more facial detail and requires more decoding, detection and rendering work. Storage for source, temporary and exported files can become the immediate bottleneck.

A supported NVIDIA GPU can accelerate compatible work, while CPU fallback keeps the process available. Actual speed depends on codec, frame rate, faces and hardware.

Use proxies only with care

A low-resolution preview can help navigation but should not be the sole basis for approval. Small faces and blur strength must be judged against the final 4K export.

  • Keep sufficient free disk space.
  • Close competing GPU-heavy applications.
  • Test a difficult short section first.
  • Review the final encoded output at 100% scale.

Avoid universal speed promises

Benchmark your actual camera files. Record codec, resolution, frame rate, scene type and number of faces so results remain comparable after hardware or software changes.
